Dr. Nami Li, a leading researcher in the Physics Division of LLNL’s Physical and Life Sciences (PLS) Directorate, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Director’s Excellence in Publication Award for her groundbreaking work, “How fluctuation intensity flux drives SOL expansion.”

Dr. Li’s research provides critical insights into the mechanisms driving scrape-off layer (SOL) expansion, offering new understanding for improving the control of plasma behavior in fusion devices. Her work stands as a key contribution to the advancement of edge plasma physics, a field vital for the success of future fusion reactors.

Reflecting on the award, Dr. Li said, “I am deeply honored to receive this recognition for our research. This work wouldn’t have been possible without the tremendous support of my colleagues at LLNL and the collaboration within the ABOUND and BOUT++ teams.”

This award highlights Dr. Li’s leadership in fusion research and the significant contributions of the ABOUND and BOUT++ collaborations in advancing our understanding of boundary plasma dynamics.
